A good provider is a bit like a doctor taking notes. They need symptoms before they can guess the cause. Expect questions like:
- What happened right before the problem started?
- Is the door stuck open, stuck closed, or moving crooked?
- Do you hear grinding, banging or squealing?
- Is there a broken spring or a frayed cable you can see?
- About how old is the door, and how old is the house?
Photos can help if the provider asks for them. Please do not try to touch the springs yourself. They hold a lot of tension.
